For municipal names, use the City of Thomasville website, department pages, boards and commissions, and dated council packets. Search both the district roster and the relevant school page. A name may be tied to only one unit. Thomasville mailing geography also reaches areas served by Davidson County Schools, whose separate staff directory must be checked when school boundaries point there. Davidson-Davie Community College is another county education source, though its live faculty directory fields were not verified in the research.
Current staff cards are time-sensitive. For a former teacher or classmate, switch to yearbooks, board minutes, and dated school publications instead of reading a present roster backward.
Thomasville Owner Name Directories
Property records function as role-based people directories. The Davidson County property search accepts owner name, parcel number, zoning class, property address, sales date and price, land units or type, and PIN. A PIN is the county’s parcel identification number. The owner mode ties a name to a parcel, while address mode works in reverse. Neither proves who now lives at the site.

Thomasville Public Library has a public Local History room, while the larger county Genealogy & History Room is behind Lexington Public Library. Ask both rooms about physical city directories, phone books, newspapers, maps, and vertical files. Their exact shelf years are not posted, and research or copy charges may apply.

A Thomasville postal address does not settle county, city limits, ownership, or occupancy. The city spans Davidson and Randolph counties. Most directory and records infrastructure is Davidson-based, but a parcel, deed, voter, court case, or vital event in the Randolph portion belongs to the matching Randolph custodian. County GIS should settle the parcel before an owner or deed search begins.
The contrast matters at the portal level. Davidson publishes separate property tax, GIS, and deed tools, with a stated 1984 start for its online real-estate index. Randolph’s official guidance describes a GIS address search with a direct Deed link, but the reviewed pages do not state an earliest online year. In both counties, office staff and in-person indexes remain the fallback.
Historical work adds another border. Davidson County formed from Rowan County in 1822, so an earlier Thomasville-area family or land event may sit in Rowan records. Fix the place and year first. Then choose the directory or archive that existed for that jurisdiction.

The State Archives holds a Davidson County miscellaneous-record series covering 1824 through 1946.
